TODAY (MAR. 11): Biggie Movie Finds Star
THE FACTS:
• Jamal “Gravy” Woolard will star as late rap icon Biggie Smalls in the upcoming biopic, Notorious.
THE SPIN:
A big man nicknamed Gravy? I laughed at that for 10 minutes. After an extensive casting call, producers have finally found their Christopher Wallace for the Biggie Small biopic “Notorious.” Jamal Woolard, or Gravy, is a Brooklyn-based rapper himself, and, like Biggie, he was also a drug dealer before he became a rapper. He’s released a number of indie albums, but is mostly known for being shot outside of Hot 97. Way to make a name for yourself, right? Joining Gravy in the cast are Derek Luke, Angela Bassett and Anthony Mackie. Luke will play Diddy, Mackie will play Tupac Shakur and Angela Bassett will play Biggie's mother Voletta Wallace. Can you believe Angela Bassett is doing this movie?
As a Biggie fan, I appreciate him for his music, but do you think he’s deserving of a biopic? Talk amongst yourselves.
