• Mariah Carey has entitled her new album “That Chick.”
THE SPIN:
With Mariah Carey, you know you’re going to get some random album title that makes you think of everything from butterflies, clouds, and day dreams to unicorns, magic and anti-depressants. So what is our creative maven naming the follow-up to her multi-platinum “The Emancipation of Mimi?”. . . . .“That Chick!” Say what? That who? That what? How old is she? I consider myself to be one of Mariah’s lambs (at least a baby one), but I can’t cut for this title. “That Chick?” I understand she considers herself to be the “ultimate tween,” but I’m thinking of a word that I don’t want to use about my girl. Here’s a hint: It’s an Ashanti song title. Wait, you’re probably thinking “baby” since she uses that word for 90 percent of her work. Foolish, people. Foolish. Mariah’s becoming a little foolish. I know it’s important to cling to your youth, but it’s unhealthy to have a death grip on it. What happened to the rumored title “Sweet Soul Odyssey?” Not cool enough for you, Mariah? I don’t know about ya’ll, but I would take “Unicorn Dandelion Lovefest” over “That Chick” any day.
