• The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that musician Ike Turner died of a cocaine overdose.
THE SPIN:
Didn’t the late Ike Turner say he was off that rock? Liar, liar, pants on fire. Oh wait, this is Ike we’re talking about. That’s probably in poor taste (or strangely ironic) to say now, isn’t it?
"The cause of death for Ike Turner is cocaine toxicity with other significant conditions," said Paul Parker, supervising medical examiner investigator of San Diego County to CNN. He added that contribution conditions included high blood pressure and emphysema, though the manner of death was accidental.
It’s a shame even at that age, he couldn’t beat his addiction. Rest in peace, Ike.
