TODAY (JAN. 10): Michelle Williams Prepping R&B Debut
THE FACTS:
• The Destiny’s Child star has updated her MySpace page to include details about her first venture into contemporary R&B.
THE SPIN:
All of you net savvy people have probably heard the clip of Michelle Williams’ “Stop This Car” a few weeks ago. The Stargate-produced track confirms my biggest fear: That dang “Irreplaceable” beat is going to outlive Beyonce herself. Well, Michelle told her MySpace crew that while she doesn’t know how it got leaked (she said she really doesn’t), she’s so grateful for the positive response, going on to add that it may be the first single from her new album. She noted that she initially had reservations about recording the song. Sometimes it’s good to stick to your first instinct. The song may be called “Stop This Car,” but it makes me want to, “board that bus.” But if ya’ll like it, hey, get it poppin’ Michelle My Bell. I’m actually looking forward to her first non-gospel album. I’m hoping she dubs the album “Heathen Music.”
