TODAY (DEC. 18): Janet Loses Role to Alicia Keys

THE FACTS:
• Alicia Keys will now take on the role of Lena Horne, originally given to Janet Jackson.

THE SPIN:
Janet Jackson just can’t catch a break. Even after scoring a role in Tyler Perry’s recent hit film, Why Did I Get Married?, she still isn’t able to get her role in the Lena Horne biopic back. Shortly after the Super Bowl fiasco, people close to Lena Horne stated that the legendary actress wanted Janet Jackson removed from her role in the television film set to depict her life. She was apparently appalled by the entire ordeal. Speaking at the premiere of the new film, The Great Debaters, Oprah (who’s Harpo Films produced the movie) has confirmed that Alicia Keys will now take on the role. First she loses out on Dorothy Dandridge to Halle Berry, and now she’s losing the opportunity to portray Horne to Keys. Maybe she can play Michael in his biopic. That is, if LaToya doesn’t snatch the role first.

I love Janet, and think she is a great entertainer and great actress. She has been a personal mentor in my life and I think that if the Dorothy Dandridge or Lena Horne roles were for her - God would have granted them to her without any hesitation. They simply were not meant for her. She has been blessed throughout her life thus far, and those roles are not life defining roles that were meant to measure her status as a performer. She may have had a personal desire to play these roles that none of us will never have the opportunity to know about or discuss with her - but congratulate her on a "job well done" thus far and know that the one life biography role of one of the undiscovered greats of our time - just might have her name on it... PEACE

She is not a good actress to me. She was just alright when she was on Good Times. Her acting ability has not improved much to make it to the big screen as far as I'm concerned. She should take up acting lessons. Just because she is a Jackson does not mean she is entitled to certain scripts, she has to earn them. And as far as Alicia Keys is concerned I really dont know her acting abilities, but she may not be a good fit either. Just because a person can sing and do a videa to their song does not make him/her an actor'actress.

JANET IS NOT IN COMPITITION WITH HALLE OR ALICIA. JANET HAS PROVED WHO SHE IS FOR YEARS AND YEARS. THIS IS THE NEW GENERATION AND YES THEY MIGHT GET THE ROLL BUT THAT DOESNT MAKE THEM A BETTER PERSON ON ENTERTAINER. JANET IS LEGENDARY AND NEVER CAN YOU COMPARE JANET TO ANYONE. JANET WAS AND STILL IS THE BEYONCE OF OUR DAY.. SO PLEASE SHE LAID OUT THE BLUE PRINT OF WHAT CLASSY AND PROFFESIONAL, GRACFUL IS . SO PLEASE SPARE ME. AND JANET IS NOT AN ACTRESS SHE IS A ENTERTAINER. ANYTHING ELSE SHE DOES IS JUST FOR FUN......TO SEE IF SHE CAN. IT DOES'NT MATTER TO HER.
