• Monica says she’s returning back to ballads on her forthcoming album.
THE SPIN:
Seems like Monica’s realized that people don’t want to see her dance, or sing as if she’s about to go rob a liquor store as soon as she wraps up her last session in the studio. Monica’s last album, The Makings of Me, moved about as many copies as a steak would sell at a vegetarian restaurant. Now that she’s finally taken the hint, she’s assuring her fans she is going back to her roots on her next album. She’s signed a new deal with J Records, and is already hard at work with producers like Missy and Bryan-Michael Cox. Hopefully, she’ll actually stick to singing and leave the rapping to Foxy Brown, Trina, Lil Kim and whatever other three female rappers are left.
