TODAY (NOV. 21): Has Usher Turned to Scientology?
THE FACTS:
• Usher has turned to the controversial religion of Scientology, reports Star magazine.
THE SPIN:
Since the release of Confessions, gossip about Usher has gotten increasingly ludicrous. First there was a rumored baby and then Usher became known as a home wrecker after rumors surfaced that the relationship between him and his now wife, Tameka Foster Raymond, started as an extramarital affair.
After that we learned of a rumored strife between Usher and his mother over his relationship with Tameka, which supposedly led to his wedding being called off at the last minute only to go on at a later date -- without his mother in attendance.
Now, Usher is apparently seeking comfort in a faith started by a man famous for his alien-lusting science fiction novels. Star magazine says Usher is training in the ways of Scientology in order to prepare for fatherhood.
They must offer one amazing pamphlet if they can get a person to change his religion. I’ve seen pictures of Usher being chummy with Scientology’s poster boy, Tom Cruise, and I remember at one time even Brandy flirted with the idea of converting to the religion, so it’s possible. Then again, this is Star magazine, so they could easily switch headlines from “Usher turns to Scientology” to “Usher returns to Chilli” in the next issue.
I don’t know if Usher’s switching faiths, but my convictions are telling me speculation on whether or not he’s joining Tom Cruise on the spaceship is enough to sell magazines. If he has indeed switched, so be it - just don’t slip in any interlude’s about the benefits of Dianetics on the new album.
