• Alicia Keys refused to enter the New York club, Pacha, for an album promotional party after club promoters failed to pay the remaining balance left on her $15,000 appearance fee.

If you want Alicia Keys to step inside your venue, you better make sure you pay all the money you owe her upfront. The R&B star refused to step inside the New York nightclub, Pacha, for one of her new album’s promotional parties after club promoters failed to pay her the remaining $4,000 on her $15,000 appearance fee.
According to the New York Daily News, Alicia was scheduled to appear at the club at midnight, but by 1:30, her friends, bodyguards and boyfriend were all inside looking for her. Where was she? Alicia was driving around the neighborhood, waiting for the rest of her money. A source told the New York Daily News that promoters were scrambling to come up with the rest of the cash in order to get Alicia inside. The club owner even offered to pay the money himself just to get her into the party. Fans, including an eight-month pregnant woman, paid $25 to get into the party, reported the publication. By the time they came up with the money, Alicia was in her bed, probably looking at her financial portfolio.
I suppose I can understand why Alicia Keys would want all of her money, but I’m assuming $4,000 isn’t going to do much damage to her bank account. I know she plays a waitress living in the hood in her videos, but that is make-believe. She could have at least waved to her fans, especially the pregnant one for a few seconds.
And if you’re curious, yes, I did stop for a second to wonder why a woman that far along in her pregnancy is at a club and not Lamaze class.
