THE SPIN (Daily Dose of Celebrity News): KEYSHIA COLE A DIVA?
Get into The Spin everyday as TV One’s online blogger, Michael Arceneaux brings you daily doses of celeb gossip and news.
TODAY (NOV. 19): Is Keyshia Cole becoming a Diva?
THE FACTS:
• Keyshia Cole reportedly backed out of performing on the opening night of R. Kelly’s tour because of issues with her place on the bill and the size of her dressing room.
THE SPIN:
Two years ago rumors swirled that Keyshia Cole had to be suspended from Kanye West’s tour for her diva-like behavior. Most wrote it off as hearsay, but maybe there was some truth to those rumors. Now on R. Kelly’s “Double Up” tour, Cole reportedly threw a temper tantrum and refused to perform at a tour date in Augustus, Ga. because she was scheduled to perform before Ne-Yo.
Cole apparently feels she is the bigger star, thus deserving to be the last person to perform before R. Kelly hit the stage. People get reality shows and lose their minds. Perhaps one ought to direct her to SoundScan, the system that tracks album sales. That should settle that issue quickly. She also complained about her dressing room being too small. If she wants a bigger room, she can always start her own tour.
Hopefully there’s more to this story, because she’s taking this ‘New Mary J. Blige’ thing a wee bit too far. Mary was notorious for her attitude in the ‘90s and she’s just now enjoying her ‘breakthrough.’ I’d hate for Cole’s reality check to come a decade later. Besides, isn’t her whole gimmick centered around the theme that she’s just like the rest of us? I don’t act like that. I’ll perform for the clean-up crew so long as the check clears.
