Get into The Spin everyday as TV One’s online blogger, Michael Arceneaux brings you daily doses of celeb gossip and news.
TODAY (NOV. 14): T.I. Recording New Album
THE FACTS:
• T.I. is recording a new album while under house arrest on pending gun charges.
THE SPIN:
Are you ready for another album released by a rapper in jail? If not, look forward to flipping the station next fall as T.I. is hard at work on a new album he hopes to release next September .
A representative for the now infamous gun collector told Entertainment Weekly the rapper has already completed six new tracks at the studio in his Georgia home. He’s calling the album Paper Trail. The title that refers to the fact that he’s writing his new lyrics down -- a practice he abandoned after his 2001 debut, I'm Serious. On the change, his rep said, "He wanted to take more time to really put something down [this time]."
I guess when you have a metal bracelet around your ankle that prevents you from leaving your home you have all the time in the world to focus on your craft.
He’s also used the Internet to release his first public statement since being booked for allegedly obtaining G.I. Joe’s arsenal. On Streetcred.com, a social networking site, T.I. thanked his fans for their support and discussed his new album. He also declared, “the king ain’t dead.”
Streetcred.com? For his sake, I hope the presiding judge is too busy on MySpace to log on to that site.
YOUR SPIN: Could a jailhouse record be any good? Will you buy this one? Post YOUR comments below.
