THE SPIN (Daily Dose of Celebrity News): WESLEY SNIPES CRIES RACISM
Get into The Spin everyday as TV One’s online blogger, Michael Arceneaux brings you daily doses of celeb gossip and news.
TODAY (NOV. 14): Wesley Snipes Cries Racism in Tax Trial
THE FACTS:
• Wesley Snipes claims a Central Florida county is too racist to allow him to get a fair trial on tax evasion charges.
THE SPIN:
Wesley Snipes has filed a motion to have his trial on tax evasion charges either dismissed or moved from a central Florida county to New York. Why? Snipes claims Marion County is too racist and won’t allow him to get a fair trial. A man facing tax evasion charges wants a fair deal. Oh the irony.
In his motion, his lawyers describe the area as, "a hotbed of Klan activity where the Klan adopted highways to commemorate the Klan and the Confederate flag flies over government property."
So we’re going with the logic that covert racism is better than overt racism? That’s an interesting claim for charges centered on the color green.
Wherever the trial takes place, I hope Snipes has one solid defense team, as he’s charged with failure to file returns from 1999 through 2004 -- and I don’t think I’ve seen a movie of his since 1995.
I don’t even know why people play with the IRS. They’re scarier than any drug dealer.
