• Four major hip-hop artists all appeared in a New York State court on the same day to face their respective charges.
THE SPIN:
Last week a New York court room looked like the red carpet of the Source Awards. Rappers Busta Rhymes, Ja Rule, Remy Ma and Lil’ Wayne all made appearances to settle a myriad of unrelated charges.
Busta Rhymes faced assault charges. Remy Ma was accused of shooting and critically wounding a Bronx woman. Lil Wayne and Ja Rule made separate appearances on weapons charges. Way to save hip hop’s name, guys.
In an AP article, Remy Ma said it was all a coincidence, adding that she knew all of them and that they’re friends. That’s no shocker: You are who you hang with.
No word on whether the four performed an impromptu set.
