THE FACTS:
• Jermaine Jackson has been accused of being a deadbeat by estranged wife, Alejandra Jackson.
THE SPIN:
The wife of Jermaine Jackson claims to be so broke that she and her kids are still living with Jermaine’s mother. She says Jermaine hasn’t offered any help. Jermaine’s response? "I currently do not have any employment" and "I do not have any income from which to pay support," Jermaine said in a court filing, according to E Online.
Well, it’s been a long time since, “If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful” charted; I guess I can’t say I’m surprised.
Alejandra is seeking sole custody and wants $7,000 in child support each month. She is also seeking $22,741 in debts and unpaid loans from Jermaine. I guess those royalty checks from all of his solo albums aren’t going for much these days (In his defense, it’s quite likely they never have, though).
Jermaine doesn’t object paying, and realizes he needs to earn income, but said in the court filing: “I also need to be very cognizant of what employment I do undertake so as not to degrade my market value and ability to obtain legitimate work in the future."
Say what? “Degrade my market value?” His market value took a nose dive in the 80s, and hedged itself off a clip after the “Victory” tour ended. And he just did Celebrity Big Brother in the UK. Yeah, your standards are impeccably high.
