TODAY (OCT. 16): T.I. Arrested on Gun Charges
THE FACTS:
• The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arrested rapper T.I. in Atlanta over the weekend on multiple weapons charges, after they say he had a bodyguard try to buy machine guns and silencers for him.
THE SPIN:
With a soaring rap career, a burgeoning career in film and a slew of new endorsement deals on the horizon, the last thing one would want to do is become an unlikely example of the adage, ‘When keeping it real goes wrong.’
It’s illegal for T.I. to purchase any firearms because he’s a convicted felon. So, naturally he had his bodyguard do it for him. After a tip to the ATF, that bodyguard was arrested last Wednesday after paying $2,200 for three machine guns, two silencers and a pistol. He told them he was buying the guns for T.I., and then with the help of ATF agents, set up a delivery to T.I.’s home on Saturday. For his sake, I hope none of his cellmates are Trap Muzik fans.
After raiding the rapper’s home they found six firearms in his bedroom closet, five of which were loaded – At this point I suggest T.I. attempt to contact Johnnie Cochran from beyond.
Despite coming across as one of the angriest height-challenged people I’ve seen in a long time, I really like T.I.. I’m definitely mad at him, though. I sure was planning to see him in concert in November. Thanks a lot, T.I.! I would blame others, but you don’t mess with the feds.
