THE FACTS:
• Several times throughout the day on Friday, Foxy Brown refused to board the Rikers Island bus that was supposed to take her to Brooklyn for her arraignment. News reports site issues over hair, make-up and meals being the reason the star refused the ride.
THE SPIN:
In Foxy Brown’s mind it’s still 1999 and the music world is enamored with the uninhibited female emcee that puts her s*xuality out for the world to gawk at. The world is her oyster as she receives platinum plaques, money and fame while riding up the charts.
To everyone else, it’s 2007 and the name, “Foxy Brown” has become more synonymous with attacking Korean nail technicians, shoplifting from trendy New York boutiques, faking pregnancies and questions over mental stability than music.
Though she was sent to Rikers Island weeks ago for violating probation, it’s apparent that Foxy hasn’t spent much time reflecting on the attitude that put her there. On Friday morning she was to be arraigned, but she refused to board the bus not once, not twice, but three times. Why? The first time she fought the power, it was because her hair and nails weren’t done. The second was because she hadn’t received lunch. The third time she simply refused.
The judge and her mother (hopefully with a switch in tow) were both left waiting. Someone ought to enlighten Foxy to the idea that the courtroom isn’t the red carpet and even if it were, it’s highly unlikely she’d be invited there given she hasn’t had a reality show, much less a hit in several years.
