~"A Call To Order"~ (8985 hits)

The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights for all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.

“I’ve Taken A Stance…and It’s Known That I Stand With You!”

"A Call To Order"
Gregory V. Boulware, Esq.

The'NAACP' has been in existence for more than 100 years. The alliance came to order in February of 1909. The "African-American Civil Rights Organization" was formed by 'Moorefield Storey,' 'Mary White Ovington,' and 'W.E.EB. Dubois.'

Several other early members included 'Josephine Ruffin,' 'Inez Milhulland,' ' Ray Stannard Baker,' 'Charles Edward Russell,' 'Joel and Arthur Spingarn,' 'Mary Talbert,' 'Jane Addams,' 'Florence Kelley,' 'John Haynes Homes,' 'Mary McLeod Bethune,' 'George Henry White,' 'Lincoln Steffens,' 'John Dewey,' 'Lillian Wald,' 'Charles Darrow,' 'Fanny Garrison Villard,' and many of the founding members who were appalled happened to be 'White Liberals' who echo the focus of the 'NAACP's' stated goal. The target demand was/is to secure for all people the rights guaranteed in the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments to the United States Constitution, which promised the end of slavery. It also promised equal protection of the law and universal (adult male) suffrage and respect.

Seeking to remove barriers of racial discrimination, the NAACP's principal objective is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of (so-called) minority grouped citizenry within these United States.

Thinking and reminiscing about my knowledge as a youth and the dynamic exploits of major NAACP heavyweights and major players of the late 50's, 60's, throughout the 60's and 70's to present day; I can clearly recall 'Jim Crow' activities right here in Philly. While perusing through the pages of the Nov. 2016 edition of "Scoop," an article written by Ms. Thera Martin Milling happened to catch my eye. The article was titled "Know Your NAACP Leadership."

The evening of December 20, 2016 was my first attendance to a membership meeting, since becoming a member as an official member as of December 1st. I was never one to join any particular organization, but this time, I felt a sort of calling. Normally this author supports any movement for the betterment of people, especially people of color and those who look like me. But this time, it seemed different. This reporter has continually supported major Civil Rights and the rights of all from the pen and paper as well as the keyboard. But this time it's different...

The meeting's evening experience was chaired very well and professionally with the exception of a momentary discrepancy concerning the recent elections of officers and committee personnel. One of the statements that stood out for me, was "In-house NAACP Business is to remain In-house NAACP Business!"

Ms. Milling's article began with her being around the NAACP and some of its distinguished local leaders over the past 35-plus years. Sister Thera goes on to extol her experience and time by stating bluntly, "You Better Know That You Cannot Simply Depend On The Government To Take Care Of You And Yours! We Need To Do For Self Like 'Brother Marcus Garvey,' and 'Minister Louis Farrakhan' and other 'Smart-Thinking' and Progressive Leaders Implore Continually!"
She continues to say, "During this time in our history in America, it comes to mind that the 'NAACP,' ' The Southern Christian Leadership Council (SCLC),' 'The National Urban League,' 'The Fraternities,' 'Sororities,' 'Prince Hall Masons,' 'Eastern Stars,' 'Our Churches,' and 'Our Mosques' have to be the centerpiece for us as a community. We cannot sit back and depend on the government to do anything for us. That's not smart and it's simply not good enough."

Sister Milling's report makes it plain and simple as it pertains to what's happening today within the 'Philly' chapter of the prestigious civil rights organization. She says it doesn't matter to her if you live in 'Yeadon,' ' The Main Line,' 'Bucks County,' ‘Camden,’ of wherever...you ought to know who your local 'NAACP' chapter leader(s) are." Thera continues to explain the succession of events surrounding our local chapter, here in 'Philadelphia.' "We just had an election for officers on Saturday, November 19, and at the end of voting, the majority of the leadership remains the same as it’s' been for the last twenty-four months."

The article's author makes it clear known that she does not wish to break any of its rules by being extremely careful in her expressed thoughts and recent revelation(s).
"When I saw my Brother, 'Joey Temple,' walking into the 'Freedom Theatre' to vote last Saturday, it really did my heart well. Here, this Man has been hospitalized for eight days prior to the NAACP Election and managed to pull himself out of his sick-bed to get to the Broad and Master Street theatre in order to vote! (What was wrong with the rest of us?) Joey has shown all of us what he is made of by doing what he did. It also speaks for and to how much 'Joey Temple' loves the Philly Branch of the NAACP.
There is so much work to be done with 'Our Local Chapter,' all willing workers are welcome. A number of candidates who wished to run for leadership positions wished to address the body membership. They all had great enthusiasm, energy, and brilliant ideas.
Some of the people who wanted to run are in their mid-30 and perhaps their early 40's. Several others were of course in their senior years of 50's and 60's as well. It's all good and it takes all age groups to work for and run this esteemed 'NAACP.' Lord knows there's enough work to go around for all of us. We need more young people in the organization. Come On - where Are The Young People? We need you to be the 'Social Media Mavens' that you are! We need to handle the 'Facebook,' 'Twitter,' 'Instagram,' and many other social media networks and outlets!
I pray that the new administration of the 'Philly Branch' does very well working together, going Further - Stronger and Better than ever before!"

...As for this 'Author' and 'New Official Member of The Philadelphia Chapter of the "NAACP," I will do my part to encourage support for 'Truth,' 'Justice,' 'Peace,' and 'The Posterity and Betterment for Our Community and Downtrodden People Everywhere!

Have You Given Back Lately?

Til Next Time...

“Are People of Color Subject To The NAACP?”
Gregory V. Boulware
Is it not true that our history, Black People/People of Color, portray us as being untrue to our own? Have we not proven the fact over and over again by continually disrespecting our Brothers and Sisters? Have we not given respect to those who do not deserve, desire, represent, nor care for People of Color while denying that same respect to those who do? Have you not witnessed such events?

Despite the fact that African Americans and other racial and ethnic minority Americans are guaranteed the right to vote by the 15th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which was passed just after the Civil War in 1870, states and local municipalities continued to use tactics such as poll taxes, literacy tests and outright intimidation to stop people from casting free and unfettered ballots.

During the Civil Rights activism of the 1960’s, just 5 days after Martin Luther King, Jr. led the march on Selma, President Lyndon Johnson announced his intention to pass a federal Voting Rights Act to insure that no federal, state or local government may in any way impede people from registering to vote or voting because of their race or ethnicity. In 1965, President Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act into law.

Most provisions in the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and specifically the portions that guarantee that no one may be denied the right to vote because of his or her race or color, are permanent, but some enforcement -related provisions have required reauthorization over the years.

Originally, in 1965, legislators hoped that within five years the problems would be resolved and there would be no further need for these enforcement-related provisions: however, it proved necessary to extend these in 1970, and again in 1975 and 1982. They were set to expire in August 2007, but were extended for another 25 years with the July 2007 reauthorization vote.

There were 3 enforcement-related provisions of the Voting Rights Act that would have expired in August 2007 unless reauthorized. The first is Section 5, which requires certain jurisdictions to obtain approval or “preclearance” from the US Department of Justice or the US District Court in D.C. before they can make any changes to voting practices or procedures. Federal approval will be given only after the jurisdiction proves that the proposed change does not, have the purpose or effect of denying or abridging the right to vote on account of race or color.

Secondly is Section 203, which requires certain jurisdictions to provide bilingual language assistance to voters in communities where there is a concentration of citizens who are limited English proficient. This provision was added to the Voting Rights Act in 1975.

The third provisions are those in Sections 6-9 which authorize the federal government to send federal election examiners and observers to certain jurisdictions covered by Section 5 where there is evidence of attempts to intimidate minority voters at the polls.

The hearings held in 2005 and 2006 in the House and Senate found a new generation of tactics, including at-large elections, annexations, last minute poll place changes and redistricting which have had a discriminatory impact on voters, especially racial and ethnic minority American voters. Thus H.R. 9 was introduced with strong bipartisan support in the House and the Senate to reauthorize the expiring portions of the VRA and allow the federal government to address these new challenges.

Lift Every Voice and Sing

Lift ev’ry voice and sing,
‘Til earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the list’ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on ’til victory is won.

Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chastening rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
‘Til now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest, our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
Shadowed beneath Thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.

"WE Must Resist"

One of the most troubling prospects for 2017 is the nomination of Senator Jefferson Beauregard Sessions for Attorney General.

Senator Sessions stands against everything that you and I fight for: He's spoken out against the Voting Rights Act, and has described the work that the NAACP and ACLU do to protect civil rights as "un-American."

We must do all we can to prevent him from rolling back the rights and protections our parents and grandparents worked so hard to gain, and we've worked so hard to preserve.

The Attorney General is the chief law enforcement officer of the United States. And our president-elect has appointed Jeff Sessions, a man who's actively threatened to strip us of our rights throughout his career.

Can we trust someone with our rights — and our lives — with a track record like this?

Sessions was denied appointment as a federal judge because of racist comments he made to a colleague.

He opposed and criticized the removal of the Confederate flag from public spaces.

He once joked that he approved of the Ku Klux Klan until he learned its members smoked marijuana.

Too many of our brothers and sisters have sacrificed for the rights we have today. We're ready to battle for our rights in 2017 — and we need your support.

In solidarity,

Evil Deeds:

“The GOP’s Attack On The President and His Family”
The attacks by political people who purport to uphold truths and the protection of its people leave me to wonder... These attacks aren't just against the Obama Family, they're attacks on us ALL! WE SHOULD ALL BE AFRAID! AND BECOME DILIGENT IN OUR AWARENESS!
See what people of the GOP representatives have stated over and over again...statements by:
Gingrich, Reed, McCain, Cantor, Ros-Lehtinen, O'neal, Clinton, Jenkins, Frage, Beck, Storck, Whitley, Shay, Grose, Santorum, The New Yorker Magazine, The Globe Magazine, Kotch, and Adler of the Atlanta Jewish Times.
Have they all been in a plot to KILL THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES?

~ Donald Trump Calls on Russia! ~
“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,” Mr. Trump said during a news conference here in an apparent reference to Mrs. Clinton’s deleted emails. “I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”

“Sedition – Treason, What’s The Difference?”
Is it not true that the media, politicians, supremacists, and other “Obama Haters” have vilified Our President? How long will “WE THE PEOPLE” allow this degrading and heinous travesty to continue?

Rachel Maddow hit Republicans with a ton of reality bricks by destroying the myth that the GOP is resisting the racism of Donald Trump and his supporters.

Donald Trump Warns Nigerians : “IF I WIN, YOU LEAVE”
“To Make America great again, we need to get rid of the Muslims, Mexicans and the Africans, especially the Nigerians. They take all our jobs, jobs meant for honest hard working Americans, and when we don’t give them the jobs, the Muslims blow us up”, Trump said.

~ “Go Back To Africa” ~
A man was recorded yelling “Go back to Africa!” at people while outside a Trump rally in Cleveland Saturday.
The nasty exchange was recorded the day after Trump supporters and protestors clashed at a Trump rally in Chicago, which was eventually canceled by the leading Republican presidential candidate.
“You call yourself an African-American, go back to Africa!” the unidentified man wearing a Cleveland Indians cap and a camouflage hoodie shouted. “If you’re an African first, go back to Africa.”

Donald Trump is being accused of rape in a new $100 million lawsuit, and it is not the first time that Trump has been accused of rape. As reported by the Inquisitr, Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, allegedly threatened a Daily Beast reporter, telling writer Tim Mak that if he wrote an article about Ivana Trump’s rape allegations against her ex-husband, the lawyer would mess up the reporter’s life.
It is ironic that the presidential candidate, who famously called some Mexicans rapists, is the one who is once again facing the Trump name being associated with rape charges.

During a spotlighted press conference, which he loves, this demo-Gog spit out words of nothing but hatred and abandonment for all those he truly dislikes and hates. "The larger “public narrative” here is almost a year old. Since last June, Donald Trump has run a presidential campaign on bigotry, racism, s*xism and frat-house insults. A legion of less educated, working-class white men has fueled Trump’s rise. And while many say the business mogul is capitalizing on their fears about the perceived decline of white dominance in America, Chomsky says there may also be more existential forces at play.

'Trump and the kkk!'
Washington (CNN)—Donald Trump is trying to clean up a racially charged controversy Monday after he refused to disavow former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke over the weekend.
When asked about his comments on CNN's "State of the Union," Trump blamed a "bad earpiece."

"I believe I did use the 'N' word in reference to the current occupant of the Whitehouse," Copeland said in an excerpt from an email he sent to his fellow police commissioners acknowledging his remark and then forwarded to O'Toole. Donald Trump and Reverend Darrell Scott, 'a Black dude,' possibly his friend.
On Friday, former Republican presidential hopeful Ben Carson gave his public endorsement for Donald Trump. The endorsement marks another interesting chapter in the ongoing saga of the businessman and would-be politician's "relationship with the blacks," one that has been rocky for decades, despite his confidence that black people (like Ben Carson) love him.
"I will be great for African-Americans," Trump declared in January. But will he really, though?

"Once again, US business magnate Donald Trump has expressed his deep disgust for Africans by referring to them as lazy fools only good at eating, lovemaking and thuggery.
Speaking in Indianapolis, Trump who is also the republican Presidential torch bearer reiterated his promise to deport Africans especially those of Kenyan origin including their son Barrack Obama.

~ THE HONORABLE MINISTER LOUIS FARRAKHAN on Donald Trump: Tearing Away White Civility ~
If you look at Donald Trump, Mr. Trump is a businessman. Certainly he’s done great things in the business world. His dad was a nice fellow. He ran a little “dusty” work (illegal ventures), like Mr. Joe Kennedy did.
White folks are allowed to be criminals and pass on money to their children to become clean. That’s what Michael Corleone, in The Godfather, was trying to do. But Frank Lucas, none of our brothers who’ve done great in the drug culture were allowed to have any money to pass on to their children that they could build on the error of the father and make something better for the children.

“And when his wrinkled stomach cried out for the food that his empty pockets could not provide, he ate Jim Crow, a psychological bird that told him that no matter how bad off he was, at least he was a white man, better than the black man,” Pitts said, quoting the speech King delivered at the conclusion of the Selma to Montgomery March on March 25, 1965.

~ ‘They Know We Have A History’ ~
Over and over again, I have come across data and written evidence to confirm the knowledge of Black Domination in many lands across the globe. European slavers have known this fact also. In fact, they knew it before many of us (generations of the 18th thru 21st century) did. The deeds of Moreish Traders have been recorded for all time for truth seekers to witness. With written and signed treaties of business and friendship, George Washington (and those during, before, and after him), has bargained and gained support from Moroccan Royalty. Photographs have been recorded and posted within many historical books and tapestries of these men collaborating at meetings and war-time locations. Some of these gatherings have been conducted within the walls of royal palaces with the European leaders as guests. The Black Elite have also traded women in these fruitful bargains. This is one of the reasons for the lightened complexions of its descendants. Many white women were bought and sold to be servants, slaves, and concubines of the Black Moroccan Men. White men probably didn’t like it much but went along to get along. They needed these warlords and their resources.

Over one hundred years ago, Dr. John S. I shall give myself no trouble because he lacks good taste... when I contrast the fine tough muscular system, the beautiful, rich color, the full broad features, and the gracefully frizzled hair of the Negro, with the delicate physical organization, wan color, sharp features and lank hair of the caucasian. Dear Gregory V,

We need you. Our country faces a difficult choice. This is not a choice between liberalism and conservatism, but an unavoidable choice between authoritarianism and democracy. The heartbreaking images of refugee families tearfully distressed and detained at airports; the tragic firing of Acting Attorney General Sally Yates for her refusal to defend constitutionally indefensible executive orders; and the Senate's rush to confirm an Attorney General nominee who lacks the independence to protect our rights demonstrate that the NAACP is desperately needed at this dangerous hour for our democracy.

A few days ago, NAACP members and supporters went to court to plead guilty to civil disobedience for our first sit-in at the office of Attorney General nominee Senator Jeff Sessions. Within hours of leaving the court, we went back to the Mobile, Alabama, office of Senator Sessions and conducted a sit-in with 100 people, with 11 of us arrested for peaceful protest. After again being cuffed, fingerprinted and booked, we again delivered the message that we must oppose an Attorney General nominee who refuses to protect civil rights, voting rights, immigrants' rights, women's rights, or the rights of the LGBT community.

We sat-in in Mobile, standing in the moral lineage of Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, Jr. Your response has been tremendous — the voicemail boxes of Senators are full, the wait time for Capitol operators is long, and Capitol Hill is hearing the resounding voices of the NAACP. They are even running campaign-style ads for Senator Sessions to muffle and muzzle the voice of the NAACP. This is why we need your help.

We are mobilizing to oppose extremist nominees and extremely dangerous executive orders. We need your financial support to keep our field organizers in the community, to post bail and pay fines, to maintain letter-writing campaigns, and to energize and engage our young people for democracy.

This is a Twitter-age Civil Rights Movement which is inspired by the past but is grounded in the present. Our strategy of connecting protests to policy to the polls requires converting outrage to organization. It requires public education, civic mobilization, and disciplined advocacy for legislation, all of which require financial support. Please both join the NAACP and give to the NAACP — TODAY.

In a few days the NAACP turns 108 years old. Please consider a donation of at least $108 or whatever you can sacrifice. Not a day goes by that our members in 2,200 units across the country are not hard at work for your rights. They are doing the work in 50 states, on military installations and Native American reservations, in large cities and small towns, on college campuses and in high schools, and in prisons. The NAACP is where you live. Please support us.

Give today. Get engaged today.

Yours in justice,
