• Ruben Studdard will return to his “American Idol” roots.
THE SPIN:
After being dropped by J Records, we haven’t seen much of Ruben Studdard these days. Then again, we didn’t see much of him when he was on J Records, either. Well, the people behind “American Idol” have decided to throw Ruben a bone. A steak bone, hopefully. Studdard will return to the show that made him a star to perform cover songs. When contestants take their final bow after being voted off, Big Ruben will sing Kenny Loggins’ 1977 hit, “Celebrate Me Home.” Sounds like they’re making him the Vanna White remix. Whatever pays the bills, I guess.
