• Diana Ross was booed by a crowd of 20,000 attending the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival after she refused to allow organizers to show her image on various monitors placed in the venue.
THE SPIN:
After upsetting fans at the annual Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, Diana Ross is about as welcomed in Jamaica as she is in Mary Wilson’s living room. Though she had multiple wardrobe changes, not many in the audience actually got to see the supreme one’s costumes after she insisted event organizers not show her image on any of the big screen monitors strategically placed throughout the venue. What’s wrong Lady Di? Bad weave day? Thousands of patrons forked over $5,300 (Jamaican dollars) to basically listen to the radio. Ross however was paid $300,000 (American dollars) to perform. One of the tour attendants told the Jamaican Gleaner, "Dem shoulda throw bottle pon har, all 20,000 people inna di venue." It took me a minute to process that, but I get it: They should have jumped her. After realizing they had been duped, the crowd began to boo Diana Ross. Another tour attendee said, "Wi come fi get leg and thigh and dem gi wi chicken back." What the bloodclot does that mean? Ya’ll are on y’all on with that one.
