Get into The Spin everyday as TV One’s online blogger, Michael Arceneaux brings you daily doses of celeb gossip and news.
TODAY (NOV. 27): Rihanna on Fashion
THE FACTS:
• In an interview with Seventeen magazine, Rihanna dishes on her sense of fashion.
THE SPIN:
Since removing Beyonce’s old tracks in favor of a hair style that recalls Pat Benatar and Joan Jett, and trading in her baggy jeans for dominatrix-inspired stage costumes, stilettos and designer duds, 19-year-old Rihanna has seen her popularity take a huge surge this year.
One aspect of Rihanna’s career that’s highlighted is her style (because it’s definitely not her voice people are bowling over) – witness as she’s topped several ‘best dressed’ lists all year. Now, the cover girl for the latest issue of Seventeen, speaks on her passion for fashion, telling the magazine, “I love playing with fashion. I’m very spontaneous – the best outfits come from me not even thinking about it.”
Well of course you’re not thinking about it, Rihanna -- you’re paying someone to think about it for you. No celebrity makes that a quick of a transition from tomboy to style icon in a matter of months without a bit of assistance. Rihanna, give your stylist some of the credit. You wouldn’t want to anger him or her and end up wearing something Britney Spears’ closet threw up.
