My apology to Hampton

Chantell Chenault · Monday, May 9th 2005 at 7:34PM · 157 views
I recognize my error in saying Hampton University, wasn't a good school. HU has produced some well-balanced, intellectuals who are leaders in our world today. (like me) most Hampton students are privileged, upper-class, young Black people, and many do not recognize their privilege. The bourgeois reputation is pretty accurate. While I was on campus You were likely to find me in designer clubbing attire and stiletto boots at 8:00 in the morning in January for no reason at all. Hampton students are generally hardworking, determined, fun loving, and very goal oriented and they are appreciative of their school's HBCU standing. However, My experience didn't go well. I shouldn't discourage others from finding out for themselves. I apologize for my harsh remarks about HU, and wish everyone attending the best of luck :)

Now that, my dear, is the sign of a maturing young woman. Keep your head in this direction. Having God, a good heart and good morals and values will aide you in becoming a well rounded, successful Black woman. Good luck, Baby Girl, in all your future endeavors and remember to pray and think things through before making a decision. That will save a lot of hard feelings and heartaches.

Chantell, everyone's experience will be unique. I am convinced that you have the tools to succeed wherever you choose to attend. Perhaps your path will be similar to your grandfather's? Nonetheless, keep us posted and again, my apologies for what happened with your Hampton BLOG entry. Holla!
