Is there a such thing as white history?

Joyce Brayboy · Thursday, February 1st 2007 at 12:45AM · 499 views
My sister asked me that question the other day. I was a little offended. I was like, most of what you learn is white history, but little of World history is white or even American. I thought about it for a sec. so I asked her what they have planned at school for black history month. She didn't know, but I really don't think they have anything planned. By this time in the conversation I'm more than annoyed cause we pay for her school.

So the question is, do you go for the most quality school system or do you go for a school system with people you identify with. What is most important?

I used to think quality school system was key, but you know what, school is school and it's alright but it ain't experience. I'm not so sure anymore that a good school is the major factor for success. As an update to this, I stopped into the school and sure enought nothing is up. I'm thinking, am I trippin cause I'm Black. Would I care if they didn't celebrate Asian Pacific month? The point is, America is a melting pot. It may be a predominately majority school, but the US is majority minority, so its relevant. Would you walk? Would you fix the problem? Would you compromise?
