Eric Perri kicked a 22-yard field goal in the second overtime to lift Jackson State over Southern 31-28 tonight in a nearly-full Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Tigers running back Erik Haw scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to tie the game at 28-28 with 3:47 left to play and force overtime. Jackson State (5-1, 4-0 SWAC) snapped a three-game losing streak to the Jaguars (3-3, 2-2) and remained on track to win the conference’s eastern division and earn a spot in the SWAC championship game in coach Rick Comegy’s first season.

Jackson State is a two-point conversion away from an undefeated season. Tennessee State converted a muffed extra-point try into two points for a 32-31 overtime victory in the second game of the season.
