...I also feel that we (non-Greeks) only see the nice side of it all...
Wearing the letters, throwing up signs, showing out in the step shows, hosting events, etc...we see what comes after the pledging.
This is where many form their views. The pledging process is not easy as I was told by my sponsors. We see the nice side.
And I think your friend should read up on the history of all the sororities because I disagree with her statement if you quoted her correctly.
We also have to understand that all Deltas dont act alike, all AKA's dont act alike, all Sigma's dont act alike...so no one can oberserve one chapter and feel that all persons of that organization is the same way.
Ok I think im done now...lol i just had a lot to say b/c I know where you come from being that Im in a organization sponsored by a sorority...
thats real girl keep it up in the game like you doing cuz no one can do what you do but you

well...im currently in a organization sponsored by a sorority and i do kid around w/ others about the same topic. but it's all out of fun. all greeks are for scholarship and service...ya know...giving back to the community and things as such.
i do realize many stating why they believe one organization is better than another. however, people have to be watchful of how they categorize sororities and fraternities. of course there will be rumors or negative comments. for example, im sure most of have heard people say AKA's are this...Delta's are this...Zeta's are that...Que Dawgs are...Kappa's are...yah know?
My advice to you would be not to really talk to a person about the subject when you get in college b/c you never know who is listening and when you pledge, if you decide to, you dont want anyone one to jepordize your chances.
As far as the members of the organization, Im sure they're aware of the many comments. I dont think they involve themselves with the ignorance.
I've realized that a lot of people are going to college just to pledge...sad to say. It's more than that. Hopefully only the REAL persons cross over.
My hairdresser tried to pledge in the graduate chapter and she didnt become a member b/c she talked negatively about the sorority...they're too expensive...they wanted me to do their hair for free...i had to call them "big sister". These type of comments will travel back to the members and will make it harder for her to become a member if they ever allow her in. She's tried twice. Im not sure if they give 2nd chances.
Hopefully a member in a Greek letter organization will respond to this blog.
