Rosa park's funeral, why wasn't Bush there?

Amecia Nichell · Friday, November 4th 2005 at 5:57PM · 224 views
I was talking to my mother on the phone the other day about Rosa park's funeral. It was held in my hometown, Detroit, Michigan, in the church that one of my mother's coworkers attends. The church only holds 4,000 people and 6,000 people came to the funeral. The extra 2,000 stood for over 8 hours to be a part of Ms. Park's home going celebration. Oprah Winfrey was there, along with several other celebrities. Even former President Bill Clinton came out to show his respects. But, President Bush was no where in sight. Rosa Parks was a civil rights pioneer, yet Bush couldn't take time out to show his respects. Am I reading too much into this, or do you think Bush should have been there?

No, you're not reading too much into it. President Bush should have been there, but there are numerous situations that he should have handled differently. His disaster relief response should have been swifter....his "No Child Left Behind" Act leaves poor areas grasping for resources.....he's been invited to the NAACP's national convention 5 years running and has yet to make an appearance! And let's not mention his foreign policy and military actions. He should have been there and this is just another silly move from the Bush administration....

i dunno whats gonna happen with this president. i know a lot of ppl who think he's gonna put us back into slavery. lets just pray that things get better, b/c i don't think he's going anywhere any time soon, eventhough we'd like to tell him where to go fast.

I beleive that he should have attended beibg that Ms.Parks was a very influential part of history. But being that he is not a black person he probally does not understand how hard her struggle was. But we all know that if we were able we would have been there, because she stood up for us.
