First Time in College...

Ashley Martino · Friday, August 12th 2005 at 11:42AM · 410 views
I will be attending college for the first time in the fall. I will be going to Florida A&M University. Am I being scary? I am very nervous to leave now that time is getting closer. I will be four hours away from home and I don't know anybody there. Is this perfectly normal or am I being baby? Will I be homesick?

At times you will get homesick, but overall, if you make the most of your time, you will be fine. Be involved in things around the campus. Dont give yourself time to think about home, only think about all the good stuff you are doing at school. And then instead of going home all the time, when you go home for breaks when everyone is home, it will be that much better. Just enjoy it, it is an experience....Live it up.

It is perfectly normal for you to be nervous because it is a big move. Just know that there will be thousands of others that will be feeling the same way you are and you will make friends and you all will be one anothers comfort. Just stay true to who you are. It will be an amazing experience. Enjoy your time on the "HILL". Welcome, Welcome, Welcome!

I think that it's ok to be nervous, espeically seeing that you dont know anyone. I see that we are both in the same boat, except my home is in Chicago which is more than just a four hour drive home. But I will be attending FAMU too, so maybe we'll see each other around and get to know one another. I know for sure that I need some new friends.
