To answer some of your questions, it began looking at PURE WAGE DATA from the U.S. Government- Bureau of Labor Statistics Database. This is a U.S. analysis ONLY.
From analyzing the wage gaps we then looked at career choices of employed adults. From analyzing ALL listed in the BLS database we extracted the largest GAPS. From this list we analyzed requirements for hiring. From this list we determined the need for a bachelors degree to enter THOSE specific fields. So it was like an ONION. Constantly asking "WHY?"

So these were U.S. CITIZENS. Not Asians from other countries.

Most educators believe that the rate of graduation drops due to the weak early foundation. Did U know that a child who fails to meet 3rd grade reading requirements only has a 10% chance of EVER CATCHING UP to their same aged peers?

There are tons of studies that show by age 6 years old 90% of the human brain is already developed. Most children do not start school until age 6. So the children who are prepared at home tend to outperform those who show up to school UNTRAINED.

I have committed MY LIFE to focus on PREVENTION OF THE PROBLEM. So I am not sure what can be done for those who have already fallen through the cracks. There are tons of resources out there I know. But for the 0-6 years old, there is NO GOVERNMENT programs focused on COLLEGE TRAINING PREPARATION. Yet, if U visit ANY ELITE PRIVATE SCHOOL the TRAINING often begins at age 4.

Here is some beginning data and research that I did personally. I wrote a 12 part series of recommendations based on things that I see working within my own children. Currently they are scoring in the top 1% of their state NCLB tests. Don't have Spring '09 results yet but will be sure to post.

I was going to suggest THAT as a main reason but did NOT WANT TO ASSUME!
Once again it can be directed to EARLY PREPARATION.
$1.00 invested TODAY is worth so much in 15 years due to COMPOUNDING INTEREST. Too often I speak to parents who are scrambling in the later years to put away enough money. An old boss explained to me that in HIS family, when a woman was pregnant-THE COLLEGE FUND BEGAN-PERIOD.

The Asians (and forgive me for sounding anti-Christian but this is the truth) do not worship the 'White' God therefore they have retained their full CULTURE of : never disrespecting the FAMILY, the FAMILY is a unity, and even more important the INDIVIDUAL is responsiable for theri own action and not blame someone or something 'out there' when things go wrong or give praise to something, some one out there when things goes right for them...

They are majority Buddhist, and no, they do not worship a Buddhist God either.

And, may I add another truth...while the White majority were trying to keep the Blacks out of our colleges the Asians were able to sneak in and raise the GPA bar too high for the Whites(smile)
