http://www.yaminternet.com/Blog/wordpress/... Hip Hop Principal A general synopsis is this. Shango Blake was fired by the New York City Department of Education in mid-August on charges of misconduct and misapproriation of funds. Blake had been principal of IS 109 in Queens Village, Queens, NY for the past four years. Five years prior to this post, he was assistant principal at the same school. During his tenure as principal, the school evolved from a designated failing school to one that was succeeding. Blake incoproated the use of hip hop music to invoke school spirit and normalize the school's dress code policy. On the education front, he introduced classes/courses on fencing, engineering, and nursing to the 6th, 7th and 8th graders. At present, U.S. Congressman Gregory Meeks and other local New York activists and politicians are protesting the NYC Department of Education to reinstate Blake. Blake was fired due to allegations made by the DOE's special investigator who does not have prove any allegations in a court of law prior to firing any employee of the DOE (including myself if he so chooses). Please read the full blog entry which includes information and links to supporting details.
Also, It would be appreciated if TV One did a followup of some sort or alerted musicians, political figures, celebrities, etc. regarding this issue.
