Everyday, I am out and about promoting my business and promoting HBCUs. I meet a lot of people who say that they hope that by the time their baby grows up...HBCUs will no longer exist. In fact 8/10 people I encounter ask "why are you promoting HBCUs for kids...I plan for my kids to do better than an HBCU!" Based on a lot of the internet chat rooms, this seems to be a growing thought pattern. I even meet alumni of HBCUs who say "I couldn't convince my child to even consider going to any one of the HBCUs...besides they got a scholarship at STATE U" What is going on? Where are these people drawing these conclusions? It appears that our HBCUs are really in for a challenging future unless more alumni get the word out that "HBCUs are great institutions!"
