To the New Graduates (237 hits)

Ok, So my baby sister is graduating from high school on Sunday and I could not be prouder...... however there is some advice that I would like to pass on to my baby sister and all new graduates (high school and college) that may very well help you will you are out there facing the world today.

1. Keep God first! So many times we get caught up in the excitement of being on our own that we lose sight of what is truly important and WHO made it possible to get to the point of success that we have attained. If you are moving, find a good ministry that you can be a part of and get a personal relationship with God. He is the Key to your success.

2. Relationships wil come and go, but TRUE friends are hard to come by. while I was away in college I met a lot of people and had many aquaintances. I also had people who were so-called friends that entered my life and God removed them. Make sure that you weed out who is real and who is fake. If you cannot do this, pray for the spirit of discernment, so that you can be a good judge of character when people enter your life.

3. Know that most people are in your life only for a season! This is very true. Once a person's season is up, life will take them in a different direction. This goes for friendships, relationships, etc. All people are in your life for a reason. This reason could be a simple as to tech you a lesson or as complicated as helping you to grow as a person. Either way, when the time comes and you have grown from that situation, the time will come for you to part ways.

4.If you have steady income....BUDGET, BUDGET, BUDGET! If your parents send you money......BUDGET, BUDGET, BUDGET!! For those of you embarking on a new career as a new grad, do not think that because I have a job....that you can spend like crazy. Now mind you, if you do not have any children, you may be able to splurge a little, but do not go crazy. Be wise in your spending.....coupon clipping should not be above. Remember later on, you will want to buy a house or get the vehicle of your dreams, get married or get recerational equipment(ie motorcycle, boat, etc...) Credit is very important...believe me I know. For those beginning your life as a college student...do not get a credit card just because they send it to you in the mail.....and do not get a credit card/store credit card and you know you do not have the money to pay the bill....You will have to pay and it will effect your credit negatively.

5. For those of you graduating from high school and that are in a relationship.....if you know that the long distance thing may not work for you, it may be wise to end your relationship on a high note, see what else is out there and experience new things for yourself. If your relationship was meant to withstand this period, then it was meant to be. For those garduating college, if your relationship is going to end in marriage, make sure that pre-marital counseling is implemented in your plans. This may be a helpful tool to your new beginning. If you are in a relationship that is unhealthy, run in the other direction.....I won't add to that.....I will just say unhealthy relationships is added stress a new graduate does not need.

These are just a few tips, from what I have have learned from being both a high school and a college graduate. Congratulations to all the graduates of 2006...especially my baby sister Timberly Hope Moore!!!!

Stay Blessed

Passing on knowledge according to Proverbs is invaluable and is saved in the best place possible outside of earth i.e. "Heaven".
