Violence in OUR Community!!!
Whatever happened to 'It Takes a Village to Raise a Child'? We look at the average kid on the street and make a decision about that child right off the bat and WE also allow the news to implant negative images of OUR young people in OUR minds. The MEN in the hood, got babies all over the place and the WOMEN in our communities think it is cute to have 10 children by eight different men. Why? because no one showed them any different.
We do not have LOVE for OURSELVES.........we perpetuate negative images ourselves! Yes the white man began the enslavement of black people, but we have continued the bondage! If we don't change this, OUR children will become the prostitutes and drug dealers that are in our communitites. If we even stay in our communitites.
Most of us roll when we get a little taste of money......then we become 'TOO GOOD' for the hood, not realizing that there are others struggling to make it and instead of giving them a helping hand, we are trying to get a piece of the American Dream.
The government is not our Allie either. why is it that the Memphis City Council, the same people who cut the summer programs for the urban community, now trying to set up a curfew for our youth. Now I am not saying that the curfew is wrong, but they waited until children were killed before they decided to try to do something about the violence in the hood, but it has been there all along. Oh and lets not forget that most of the youth still have nothing to do.
One last thing, two days ago an 13 year old girl(from the binghampton area) got shot in the head by a 19 year old girl(from Orange Mound) after the two were fighting. The 19 year old left the scene and came back with her mother and shot the 13 year old. After fighting for her life the 13 year old died. The 19 year old and her mother have been charged with murder. Now, the media reported on this story and interviewed outraged parents who said they would never help their child commit a crime.......guess what the color of their skin was? White! Think about it.
Stay Blessed
