Am I Crazy or What? (190 hits)

Okay.....so when I was in undergrad, I made fun of all of my friends for picking out their engagement rings or rather designing them on adiamondisforever.com. Probably about a year ago, I designed my own engagement ring. I have chosen three wedding dresses that I would like to wear on my wedding day. I have even started looking at china patterns. Problem with this is, I technically don't even have a boyfriend yet. Sure there are potentials, but it is still too early to tell what will be. Now my mother says it is nothing wrong with it, she says I am just walking by Faith. Which is how I have been looking at it, but now I am beginning to wonder if I am just losing it. Yesterday I picked up the wedding registry mag in JC Penny's. I was thumbing throught the magazine picking out items for the house that I don't have yet for the husband that to my knowledge has yet to enter my life. I don't believe that I am infatuated with the idea of getting married, but I do feel that sometimes I go a little overboard with my plans as if I will be getting married next year. To tell you the truth, when I signed up for the various wedding websites that I have subscribed to, I had a tentative date set in 2007. Now I don't believe the infatuation with the idea of being married is there, because I think I would be married by now. I want to fall in love with the person I will spend the rest of my life with and I don't want that love to ever go away. Maybe it is possible for my husband to find me by then........ Now I am probably going to continue to plan for this wedding mainly because of the principle of Faith, but I may get annoyed with myself a little later on down the road. I remember talking bad about my friends and their imaginary plans for the wedding of their dreams. Out my crew of female friends, only two are married out of 8. I wonder why all of a sudden I have taken such a grave interest in marriage. Whatever the reason, I know that I want a relationship that is fulfulling and blessed and I do wish that for all of my friends and family. I also want to congratulate my best friend, Kevin on his engagement and my godsister Elise on her engagement. I will be at both weddings and I pray many blessings on each union.

Stay Blessed

One Love

I believe with you my sister...planning for marriage is just a part of what the Word says..."He who finds a wife, finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord." Your husband when he finds you will find a woman who is prepared, ready and on top of things. If you look at the Proverbs 31 woman, she was handling her business...therefore, if she is the epitome of an awesome, virtuous wife, then as single women, that is how we ought to be prepared; until our "Kings" find us! You are not crazy...you are inspired by God to do what it is that needs attending... Also, why the language "grave interst in marriage?" Marriage=Covenant (If you are looking for a good inspiring, life changing CD that beautifully translates this into a melodious work of art, check out John Gray's "Covenant" which you can buy at www.johngraymusic.com) Trust me, your life will never be the same...it also goes along with all that you have spoken about in your message. You also have to be mindful not to cast your pearls before swine. Many people have good intentions when you tell them of your dreams, however, some will never understand what it is that burns in your heart. There are mockers, scorners and those that would try to hinder, frustrate and foil the plans that God has given you. Hold on to your dream and cherish it like a pearl that you found that is of great worth and value. When that day finally comes, you will be so happy that you prepared yourself in such a way. I would also recommend that when the man comes into your life that you seek after pre-marital counseling. So many of our people rush into things and I'm seeing that people that I went to undergrad with got married, had kids and now are divorced or on the brink. My motivation in life is to further augment the reunification the African American family. Marriage is key. I just recently read that Washington D.C. is offering incentives for people to go through pre-marital counseling for low-income families. "The most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show that in 2003, 74% of black children in Washington, D.C., are born to women who have never been married. Almost 54% of all babies born that year were born to single mothers." (USA Today) What does that say about us who are waiting to get married? We wait...not necessarily by choice...yet we are paitent and still...(at least some of the time) and have a desire to wed, yet there are people who need the extra incentive to get married because they are acting like a family, but not necessarily in the eyes of the law. Okay. I digressed. Nonetheless, when God brings the one who is handpicked to compliment your life, accomplishments, achievements and every little intricate detail about you...I pray God's blessing on you and yours for a lifetime of happiness, prosperity and overflow! God bless!
