The Acception of New Life
You know being over here in a foreign land has provided me with many avenues to address life. Seeing that my people are losing who they really are I chosen to head this off before it spread, so help to spread what started years ago but has been neglected by a false sense of perception. So I write to you this.......
The Acception
Open our minds to understanding, our ears to the knowledge
That you can not get educated just from college
Education is from within so we must first learn ourselves
No one puts the truth, in those books on the shelves
Times are changing and our heritage is being lost
Accept that you are Black, and that's at all cost
Though you may be, a lighter shade of brown
It's in our roots, trace it, it can be found
Our caramel complexion, might cause some to ponder
Let the structure of our body be a work of wonder
Even though you may, blend into night, be bold
The Blacker the berry the sweeter the juice, I'm told
Our hair might be nappy and our lips might be full, Love You
You are Black and let it show in everything that you do
Speak these words as you rise from your bended knees
"I'm proud to be Black more proud to be free
Free from lies, jealousy, hatred, and envy
Cause I know who I am and I can accept me."
