Why is so hard?

Ciara Ford · Friday, June 24th 2005 at 1:01AM · 782 views
Me myself have been trying so hard to leave the christian life but the devil keeps throwing stumbling blocks in my path. I try not to pursue s*xual interactions but there is always something in the back of my mind telling me that this is the last time Ciara. I often wonder why is it so hard to fight off temptation. If you have any clue on what I should do to stop temptation from the opposite s*x please let me know.

Baby Girl, this Christian walk is very hard, especially when you are young. You have to pray all the time and surround yourself with people who are trying to live like you are. Peer pressure can cause you to fall. If you have friends who all have the same goal, you can then encourage each other. It's always easier to handle a situation when you have a support group. Support each other in your quest for a holy life. It works for me. Whenever I try to hang out with people who have a different walk with the Lord, the temptation gets much stronger.

Remember Paul said in Romans 7:16-21 When I would do good, evil is there with me.

It is a fight so you have to pray and ask God for strength.

What's going on girl. I understand what you are saying totally. As a matter of fact, when I first got saved, I was dealing with this thing hard, I even fell once. However, no condemnation in Christ Jesus. Remember that if you have a heart to serve Him, he will honor that, but please don't deceive yourself, do you really want to give this thing up? Because if you don't, and acting like you do, no change is going to take place because you're only saying what you think God wants to hear. Know He knows your heart.

The devil doesn't temp you with anything that he knows isn't your cup of tea. He's not going to temp you with a woman because you're not trying to overcome being a lesbian. However, s*x with the opposite s*x is what you're trying to come over and that is what your test is going to be in until you pass. God showed me that in order to be completely delivered from something, you have to have a change of heart. For example, I stopped fornicating before I got saved, but it was only because that's what I was feeling at the time. Now, I don't have s*x because I'm at the point where I hate it when its not pleasing in the eyes of God. So, I encourage you to seek Him and do what you need to do. I take it that you have prayed on the matter, however, its time for action. If you put your foot out there, He will do the walking. Yield to Him. The more you say this is the last time, the further you get into it. Instead of saying this is the last time, say NO, NOT THIS TIME! I'm not going there.

I am not telling you this because it is something that I heard, but something that I have overcome. You can also overcome it. Be real with yourself and with God. If you really don't want to give it up, then say that to Him, but if you have a desire to please Him, He will help you out. But please be real. Deceiving yourself, not saying that you are, will not help you at all in the situation. I have the faith and believe that you will be victorious over this thing.
