Hey ya’ll. It’s good to see you; how are you this beautiful Sunday afternoon? I trust ya’ll know how much I appreciate you taking time to explore Just Sayin. This has become a team effort. To all who scour the web and help Just Sayin serve up a slice of the best African American cyberspace has to offer, you’re da BOMB, and I thank you. For all the rest of ya’ll, let us hear from you. Know a cause, event, author or blog that excites you; drop by Just Sayin and tell us what you want to see. Again, I’m so glad you’ve stopped by, and I hope you enjoy today’s Just Sayin.
My Two Cents Okay. I gotta ask ya’ll. What are we African Americans serious about? All over the networks, all over cyberspace we pontificate in the name of Jesus, in the names of Civil Rights and community unity, and all over cyberspace we prove our inability to even hold a civilized conversation.
The intellectual out to save the world easily curses the brother whose opinion differs. We must come together suddenly becomes, “STUPID A** NI***.” The “saint” who just posted edification and encouragement, in artful essay based on, “there is now therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ,” mercilessly slanders and demeans any whose theology differs. Boldly calling into question another’s salvation and empirically judging them unworthy of God.
I guess I confuse easy, but I thought we were all striving to achieve individual and collective growth, empowerment and success. Now, I’m neither naïve nor idealistic enough to believe that everyone is sincere in their purpose, and approaches are as varied as perceptions, but my, your, our responsibility is constant. And we are being watched.
Okay, so sister so-and-so showed her cute little butt, and brother you-know-who is the master of the drive by insult. I understand you were openly provoked. And I know how badly you want to swing, but I don’t want to debate the justification or satisfaction of a good counter punch. I do want to know if you’ve considered the hundreds of thousands of people that may be watching? Yep, that’s right; the latest figures indicate that Connect Platform is getting more than a million visitors every month. What kind of example are you, I, we setting for all the invisible eyes? Would you be proud to call the impression you’re making your first? It just may be, a million times over. Are you an example of who you want that unseen child to grow up to be? They are watching you, me, us; they will follow in our footsteps. Before you let your fingers fly, ask yourself, will this exemplify the change I want to see? Will my words help somebody else be all they can be? Just Sayin

My View of the News There are reports of a horrific creature lurking among our national monuments. Though swift footed and elusive, many have witnessed it deliberately stalking the White House. All who’ve seen it, describe an oddity of Biblical proportions. Powex F. Orgotten, an indigent who often sleeps on the national mall, claims, “She looks like a chameleon that swallowed a pit bull, forked tongue and all. Folks say Sarah’s wearing lipstick. That’s what we call her around here, but looks like she’s drooling blood to me.”
Okay, may-be a little harsh and certainly not amusing if you’re a fan of the Alaska Governor, but my ugly little picture is unfortunately accurate. The picture she drew of herself as tenacity in a painted mask, may well be the first and last true statement she makes. I am not insinuating that Madam, I can bring home the bacon, fry it up in a pan, is a liar. While her flip-flops might lead one to assume such, I honestly don’t believe the lady is qualified to be called a bonafide liar. Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, she just ain’t that smart.
Primary requirement of a good liar is to remember what you say and be able to regurgitate it even after long periods. Am I right? Mrs. Palin cannot seem to cling to the same position for even a single day. The Governor was quoted, in a September 12th
article questioning her environmental record, “I’m not one, though, who would attribute it to being man-made.” The same day, ABC News Senior National Correspondent Jake Tapper, quotes Her Honor (?) in his blog,
Palin Flip-Flops on Whether Global Warming Has Man-Made Causes; Falsely Claims She Never Suggested Otherwise. This time Sarah said, “I believe that man’s activities certainly can be contributing to the issue of global warming, climate change. Here in Alaska, the only artic state in our union of course, we see the effects of climate change more so than any…” Before the sun could set, she offered yet another example of her intellectual inability to carry any one concept through to fruition. Beth Fouhy quotes The VP candidate touted her distain of earmarks, in an
article by Beth Fouhy saying, “What I've been telling Alaskans for these years that I've been in office, is, no more.” Mere words later she mocked that, “Obama regrets bypassing Clinton.” A hypocritically play of the gender card she professed to detest during the primaries. Jim Popkin exposed the truth 5 days later with
Records Reveal Palin’s Push for Earmarks. This woman obviously is not capable of a consistent opinion, and she’d be as laughable as my ugly creature, if she were not extremely dangerous. She smiles, waves and speaks on command; obediently spouting whatever incongruent dribble her handlers place before her. The glitz and glimmer of the Republican ticket is no practiced liar; she’s is a marionette.
In fairness to the Alaska Governor, I must admit there is one more area where she has been completely consistent. Sarah Palin has little respect for the founders of this great land or the generations who have struggled and died furthering their vision, their dream. Sarah Palin distains the tradition of community organization upon which America was founded. She demeans the American millions who have dedicated their lives in service to the communities in which they life. Two weeks ago, Sarah Palin told the
Republican National Convention, “I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a community organizer, except that you have actual responsibilities.” Her remarks drew cheers, and a week later, through cherry lipstick smile, she had an amazing lapse of consistency and told the crowd, “
listening to him speak, it’s easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs, but not a single major law or reform – not even in the state senate.”
Even fans of the gun-toting confusionist should be fairly shaking in there boots by now, but if your still not convinced, perhaps an article in today’s Dar Al-Hayat, a moderate Arabic Newspaper based in Lebanon, will prompt unveiled attention.
The Threat of Religious Fundamentalism reveals a frustration and exhaustion paralleling that of African Americans those summers the cities burned.
