On September 27, 2008 from 2pm to 6pm, the brothers of the Theta Phi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. will host
Stroll for Change on the campus of the University of New Orleans. The event is free and open to the public.
Stroll for Change will serve two purposes. The event is designed to increase the number of informed voters, while also creating an impactful introduction to collegiate life for the children of the New Orleans public and private school systems. This program is also designed to provide informational resources to current and potential registered voters on candidates seeking local, state, and national office. The ultimate purpose of
Stroll for Change is to increase voter registration and provide literature that will eable voters to make informed decisions when casting their ballots.
In the spirit of Alphi Phi Alpha's mission, Theta Phi Chapter is producing the event in order to focus on voter education and social empowerment. Fraternities and sororities from colleges throughout the state will perform, attracting a large untapped audience of voters.
The term "strolling" refers to dance movements performed by fraternities and sororities that illustrate their organizations' themes, adopted symbols, and mascots.
