With growing apprehension the crowd gathered outside the Santa Maria courtroom. The jury had reached its verdict. Michael Jackson is given one hour to arrive at the Santa Maria courtroom. His motorcade proceeds rapidly on the freeway toward the courtroom.
With abated breath I sit nervously on the edge of my sofa...waiting through all of the 'legal opinions' of the 'legal experts' (it never ceases to amaze me how so many people become 'the' expert during high-profile cases).
Finally, the Judge, flips on the electronic audio switch allowing the entire world access to the reading of the verdict. The courtroom clerk proceeds to read the verdict on the first count, which is, the conspiracy charge...We, the jury, on count one,... find the defendant....NOT GUILTY!
And so it goes....for the remaining nine counts...NOT GUILTY! Even on the misdemeanor charges...NOT GUILTY!!
I, along with many million Michael Jackson fans, am estatic! I have maintained all along that this case should NEVER have gone to trial. It was a waste of tax-payers time and money. Not to mention the millions of dollars it has cost Michael Jackson. To be acquitted of all counts is, of course, sweet vindication. The Santa Barbara District Attorney's Office, and it's prosecution team 'cannot' appeal this verdict.
The prosecution's 'witchhunt' proved to be counterproductive. It is no secret that the prosecutor in Santa Maria, CA has been after Michael Jackson for years now.The 'Not Guilty' verdict reached by the twelve (12) jurors landed a devastating blow to this prosecutor's career(not to mention his pride). I believe that one 'reaps' what one has 'sown'.
The 'truth' needs no defense....either it is or it isn't. The truth prevailed in the courtroom today.
Having said the above, I am absolutely thrilled with Michael's victory. I hope, now that this trial is over, he will be able to bounce back with a renewed vigor. The kind of vigor that is known only to Michael Jackson! He remains the 'King of Pop' in the eyes of the world. To me he is simply the best musician/performer (Prince comes in next) in the entertainment industry.
I wish Michael Jackson and the entire Jackson family much happiness and peace. They have suffered needlessly. It's now their time to heal.
Thanks! Tressia
