It is not easy to manage Bipolar from the perspective that environmental factors can contribute to an onset of an episode of clinical or manic depression. Remember, it's all about the chemicals in the brain.
What I have come to understand and practice is mind over matter. That is the basic ideal that as much as I can control my will, I will not allow the symptoms of Bipolar to over-take me. Sometimes it becomes a fight between the wills.
An example is when I first feel the symptoms of Bipolar. I immediately call those who need to know. If the situation worsens, I have people who will be checking on me if I do not contact them. I get frustrated because the symptoms won't subside although I am focusing as hard as I can. My mind begins to fight. Thatis what it feels like inside. That a fight is going on.
I also try hard to concentrate on just one thing. God. That helps me to stay peaceful and calm in most cases. It can be very scary experiencing an episode so God is the One and Only One to grant serenity. That is when the Bipolar becomes manageable again. The symptoms begin to subside. The mind must always be prepared to fight and not become a victim.
Funny thing when I shared this with a colleague once, he told me that it was like studying under stringent circumstances. What do you think?
Today, I wish that you believe that you can win the fight to manage Bipolar!
