The National Black Arts Festival's 20th annual celebration of art, music and culture will feature several members of the Spelman community.
Eddie Bradley, Jr., Ph.D., chair of the drama and dance department, serves as dramaturg (the research consultant for the production) for "The Amen Corner," a play directed by alumna Andrea Frye, C'67. Bradley is also the understudy for two of the male characters in the play, Luke and Brother Boxer.
Denise Burse, C’73, the nationally acclaimed actor of stage and television who recently starred in Tyler Perry’s "House of Pain," is the lead character in the play. Burse's acting credits also include appearances on the television series "Law & Order."
Drama and dance professor Ralph Paul Thomason, is scene designer/ technical director for the "Gee's Bend," production, and scene designer/production coordinator for the NBAF Children's Education Village.
Novelist and playwright Pearl Cleage, C'71, will engage in conversation with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater artistic director Judith Jamison.
The Amen Corner

A True Colors Theatre production that addresses the role of the church in the African-American family, the relationship between religion and earthly love, and the effect of poverty and racism on the African-American community.
