"Answered Prayer"
Psalm 28:6-9
When we are surrounded by trouble or wickedness, prayer is our best weapon. God is our only real source of safety. Prayer is our best help when trials come our way because it keeps us in communion with God. As Christians, this is why we need to be thankful for our trials; they make us stronger and remind us who is in control.
On last week, I made a huge mistake by putting in my two-week notice at my current job before receiving clearance and an official offer letter for my new position. I was so excited about my new position and so sure that everything else would check out with my background check and drug test, that I submitted my notice prior to receiving the clearance needed. The hiring manager called and stated that there was a concern with something showing up on my background check that required further investigation by their risk management department. I had to wait 24 hours before I heard anything from my new employer. I was so scared and so embarrassed at the thought of having to rescind my notice and telling my family and friends that I did not secure the new position after all. But I prayed, and prayed, and prayed some more. Everything turned out to be fine and I was cleared to be hired. But that moment of anxiety was a reminder that God is still in control. It was the power of prayer and a positive relationship with God that made the difference.

BLACK HISTORY TRIVIA:
Congratulations to Kimberly Hunt, who answered Friday's trivia question correctly. In 1989, Ronald Brown served as chairman of the Democratic National Committee. Here is today's question: on this date in 1868, black delegates were the majority in which state's assembly?
