Everyday HBCUConnect.com is adding more and more members to its register. Like most of you new members, I, too, felt a little uneasy navigating the site when I joined. I remember sending messages to myself. lol
I hope that you will find the following information helpful as you take full advantage of this wonderful site.
Your Introduction or profile page, as you have already seen, contains a guest page. A guest or visitor may choose to leave a note or message for you. If you wish to respond or send that visitor a reply you can click on the guest's name. (The visitor's name is always highlighted) Once you click on the name the visitor's profile page will pop up. As you read more about the person you will notice a 'leave note' space or field under the heading Guest Book....this is where you will enter your reply, ok? When you complete your 'note' to the person take your mouse and click on the 'add' field (this field is to the right of the 'note' line).
Your message now gets added to the person's guest book along with his other messages.
If you wish to add that person to your 'Friends list' you simply scroll up his page and just under his intro you will see 'Interact with...' click on the blue arrow beside the field and it will give you options such as: Add as Friend, Save this Profile, Email me, etc. Make your selection...if you want to have this person on your Friends list click on Add as Friend. A computerized invitation will be sent to that person. It will be up to them to accept or deny the invitation. If you desire to email this person click on Email me and proceed. Generally, site members will send an email to another member if they desire privacy as all site members can access/read another members' guest book.
It may seem overwhelming at first but, trust me, when you play with it for a while you will say 'Ahhh, now I get it'! ;-)
