'The Gift of Reconciliation'
Genesis 33:5-11
It is easy to overlook the many ills that befall our society. The 'isms' of life-racism, classism, s*xism-have a unique way of reminding us that we live in a flawed, unjust society. Moreover, justice without an attempt at reconciliation is an exercise in futility. God delights in forgiving and restoring His people. Although it may be difficult to take on societal ills individually, we Christians are called to seek God, who forgives us of our sins, and to attempt reconciliation with our family members and fellowman (Matthew 5:21-24). We, too, must be willing to forgive and to restore any broken relationships, knowing that God can work through us in spite of our sinfulness.
