The Sun is Rising (Leader's Survival Guide #7) (914 hits)

How many times have we woken up to a new day, thinking about everything we wanted to accomplish that day?

Then… as morning slowly turns into afternoon, we get distracted. Our mind turns to other people, and other problems. As the day wears on, we find ourselves so busy that we forget the goals that we set for ourselves that morning.

As evening approaches, we start getting fatigued. We’re tired out from the hectic pace of the day, and all of its confusion. Then comes the realization that the sun is setting, and many of the things we hoped to accomplish remain untouched. Where did the time go? How did I get so exhausted? What happened?

It’s a familiar situation for everyone. Sometimes, we wish there were more hours in the day, or more strength in our bodies. We try to multi-task and organize our way to success, just to realize that our efforts are fruitless. We even try to juggle our various responsibilities, but get frustrated when it just leaves us more exhausted and spent… and we’re still far from reaching our goals.

Now, think about this... what about your life as a whole?

When the sun is going down, will you reflect on what you missed in life because of the distractions, or will you be confident in knowing your time was well-spent?

Are the things that dominate your life worthy of the time you’re giving them? Or, like those daily time-wasters, are you pouring your effort into things that at the end of the day, won’t matter at all?

Take a moment to re-evaluate your life. Five years ago, how would you have envisioned yourself now? Does it fit with what you’ve become?

Is your attention being siphoned away by money, your job, your friends, your personal worries and fears? Are you so busy trying to be perfect that you miss what is truly important? Are you living your life for somebody else, or are you making the most of it for yourself?

The sun has risen. Before it’s too late, look at the choices you’ve made. Are you remaining true to your goals, or are you too busy to realize you’ve forgotten those goals?

Reconnect with your true values, and the things that give you true satisfaction.
