New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, who is reportedly now listed as an Independent (“unaffiliated”), recently left the Republican Party, but has not given a clear indication whether he did so in order to run for the U.S. Presidency in 2008. Bloomberg had also, reportedly, left the Democratic Party for the Republican Party in 2001 during his bid for New York mayor.
Nonetheless, the following list of presidential candidates may contain those who are still in the “exploratory” stage; i.e. have not made an official announcement of their bid for the presidency or are merely contemplating “exploring”.
