Proposal 2, known as the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (298 hits)

I just voted in NYC and found out that propsal 2 is only in Michigan.

Proposal 2, known as the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative, stops public agencies and universities from granting preferential treatment based on race or s*x in hiring, awarding contracts or admissions.

yeah, I'm from michigan. we've been debating this for the past seven years and it finally got voted onto the ballot. i go to school in south carolina, but back in michigan college students have been protesting. Two of the schools there, U of Michigan, and Michigan State, are very selective and a lot of miniorites get in because of affirmative action. This proposal could change all of our lives in michigan if it's passed- everyone back there is really nervous about it.
