The Global Conference will highlight the socio-cultural and historical contexts that have been critical in shaping the responses of women of African descent to God’s calling.
It will also provide an unprecedented occasion for women of African Descent from across the Diaspora to gather, claim their inner voice, and share their wisdom as they consider the interconnectedness of spirit, religion, and vocation in their life.
The conference will take place on September 21, 22, and 23, 2006 at the Omni hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, GA.
Conference Objectives
To expand and document research on women of African descent, religion, spirituality and vocation by Black women scholars
To engage women of African descent in theological conversations and research on vocation
To document strategies to improve the opportunities for Black women clergy to serve in senior religious leadership positions
To develop intergenerational and intercultural connections for global partnership and networks among women of African descent.
