What is the funeral schedule for Jimmy Carter?
At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, the motorcade with Carter's remains will travel from Phoebe Sumter Medical Center through his hometown of Plains. There will be a brief pause in front of the family’s farm, during which the National Park Service will salute and ring a historic farm bell. They will then travel to Atlanta where Carter's remains will lie in repose at the Carter Presidential Center for a few days.
On Thursday, Carter's remains will be brought to the Washington National Cathedral for a national funeral service at 10 a.m. In the afternoon, they will return to Plains where Carter's remains will be buried alongside his wife's at their home.
Several media outlets are being given access to the funeral services, however it's currently unclear which TV channels (if any) will be broadcasting the services and when.
But, several networks will be streaming it on their websites and YouTube. USA TODAY begins its live stream at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Praising Jimmy Carter, Biden Says Values Of Late President ‘Can Never Let Slip Away’
President Joe Biden eulogized former Jimmy Carter on Dec. 29, hours after the former U.S. president — and a friend of Biden for over 50 years — died at the age of 100, calling him an example of “simple decency” over the course of decades in public life. Speaking from St. Croix, where the president is marking the new year, Biden noted he was the first national figure to endorse Carter’s bid for the presidency in 1976, and said their families had bonded in recent years over shared battles with cancer. Biden’s son, Beau, died of glioblastoma in 2015.
“Jimmy Carter stands as a model of what it means to live a life of meaning and purpose, a life of principle, faith, and humility. He lived his life dedicated to others,” Biden said. “He worked to eradicate disease, not just at home but around the world,” he said. “He forged peace. Advanced civil rights, human rights. Promoted freedom of elections around the world. He built housing for the homeless with his own hands. And his compassion and moral clarity lifted people up in chains.”
Carter died at his home in Plains, Georgia, on the afternoon of Dec. 29, his family said in a statement. The death of the 39th president resurfaced debate over his legacy in the White House mere weeks before Biden, 82, the oldest man ever to serve in the presidency, is set to leave office.

[President-Elect] Trump Says He Will Attend Jimmy Carter's Funeral Amid History Of Mutual Criticism
President-elect Donald Trump said this week he plans to attend former President Jimmy Carter's funeral following a history of mutual criticism.
Carter, who died on Dec. 29 at the age of 100, will be honored with a state funeral at Washington National Cathedral on Thursday, Jan. 9. President Joe Biden is expected to deliver the eulogy.
"I'll be there. We were invited," Trump told reporters on Tuesday night, though he declined to say if he'd spoken with any members of the Carter family.
Trump's attendance at the funeral will come after years of public sniping between Trump and Carter, including Trump's recent jabs at Carter on the 2024 campaign trail.
Though after the 39th president's passing, Trump issued a statement praising Carter's service to the country.
"The challenges Jimmy faced as President came at a pivotal time for our country and he did everything in his power to improve the lives of all Americans. For that, we all owe him a debt of gratitude," Trump wrote. "Melania and I are thinking warmly of the Carter Family and their loved ones during this difficult time. We urge everyone to keep them in their hearts and prayers."
In another post, Trump commended Carter as a "truly good man" and praised his humanitarian work post-presidency.
"While I strongly disagreed with him philosophically and politically, I also realized that he truly loved and respected our Country, and all it stands for. He worked hard to make America a better place, and for that I give him my highest respect," Trump wrote of Carter. "He was a truly good man and, of course, will be greatly missed. He was also very consequential, far more than most Presidents, after he left the Oval Office."

How Jimmy Carter’s Global Health Efforts Elevated ‘The Art Of The Possible’
Former President Jimmy Carter’s oft-stated desire was to see the last Guinea worm die before he did. Though America’s 39th president, who died Sunday at age 100, did not quite achieve that dream, he left a huge legacy in the field of global health.
The causes he espoused are diseases whose names most of us barely know. Onchocerciasis, or river blindness. Schistosomiasis, a disease caused by parasitic worms. Trachoma, which also causes blindness. Lymphatic filariasis, a parasitic disease that attacks the lymphatic system, leading to grossly swollen limbs or elephantiasis. And Guinea worm.
There was nothing glamorous about helping people affected by these diseases, which mainly afflict the poor and powerless in sub-Saharan Africa; no one throws black-tie galas at Carter’s namesake foundation, the Carter Center, to fund work to combat them. They are generally the purview
