then realized how much my mind wanders
i found this paper, to hold these words
then i realized how much my hands shake
i tried my best, to spell things right
but i realized, the words are what matter
she is far away from meh, but close to my heart
knowing she cares, makes meh smile
maybe fate, caused our paths to cross
but whatever the case, im glad i found her
sometimes gifts come with fancy bows and ties
sometimes they come with laughter
today on her birthday, i think to myself
what can i do to remind her?
to thank her for looking out for meh
for letting her know her words matter
to let her know that she makes meh smile
for the time she takes to check in on meh
and let her know i am fond of her
looking up to her like i would a sister, a mother or an aunt
knowing she is there makes meh a little stronger
and lets meh know there is someone on my side that cares
so i picked up this pen to write her a note
something small to let her know that i remembered
happy birthday, i will write, in pretty ink from this pen
and thank her for all she has done
she may never know how much she has saved meh some times
but maybe she will know that i thought of her
