Oakwood University Alumni Week Goes Virtual (1155 hits)

by Maquisha Mullins, PhD, Interim Director of Integrated Marketing & Public Relations

One of Oakwood University's most well-known and favored traditions will continue in the midst of this time of disruption. Oakwood Alumni Homecoming Week 2020 will be virtual-streaming on the university’s official platforms. The week’s events surround the theme of 'Remember' and will feature multiple special guests and opportunities for engagement through social media networks. The speaker for the Friday evening service is Dr. Bron Jacobs, Sabbath service Dr. Andrea Trusty King will be the speaker, and for the final service of the weekend, Oakwood student Dimitri Scavella will speak. There will be some special musical performances included in the weekend’s festivities that the Office of Alumni Relations is eager to share with its audience of alumni and friends.

These are difficult times however, “We feel that now, maybe more than ever before, we need to bring our community together virtually and serve as a source of encouragement,” commented Emile Parker, the university’s director of alumni relations. To join these special worship services tune in through the university’s streaming channels live on Facebook and YouTube, April 10 and 11, 2020.
