McDonald's awards $20,000 in scholarships to students at Florida A&M University's homecoming (4055 hits)

McDonald’s has a longstanding relationship with HBCUs and is proud to offer opportunities to outstanding students for their dedication to school and community. Over the weekend the legendary brand awarded two $10,000 McDonald’s Black & Positively Golden Scholarships, in partnership with Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), to students at Florida A&M University (FAMU) Homecoming in Tallahassee. The scholarship is just one way the Golden Arches supports education and empowerment through its Black & Positively Golden platform, as it helps cover higher education expenses, such as tuition, room, board and books, that can sometimes hinder students from achieving graduation.

Orlando native Rasheed Freckleton was awarded the fifth scholarship. McDonald’s presented the first-generation college student with the big reward during Florida A&M University (FAMU) Homecoming in Tallahassee. Rasheed is a freshman actively involved in his community and campus volunteering at the Coalition Shelter for Homeless and is a member of the J.W Hatchett Pre-Law Society.

Amiya Bowers of Florida A&M University was presented with the sixth scholarship during Florida A&M University (FAMU) Homecoming in Tallahassee. Amiya takes great pride in serving others in her community and is a Freshman Psychology major from Orlando and is member of the FAMU Phycology club.
