NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State's Annual Blue-White Spring Football game will be held Saturday (April 8) and several activities that will appeal to fans of all ages will be held in conjunction with the game.
The day's activities will begin with a Blue and White Free Youth Golf Clinic to be held for children ages 8-18. The clinic will run from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at nearby Ted Rhodes Golf Course. For more information on the clinic, call 963-5851.
At 11 a.m., Backfield in Motion will sponsor a Punt, Pass, and Kick Competition in Hale Stadium. A Kids Zone starring Bob and Larry from Veggie Tales will feature prizes, inflatable games, and face painting in the stadium area. Also, at 11 a.m., radio station 92Q will begin broadcasting from the stadium.
The game will have a 2 p.m. kickoff. TSU head coach James Webster will be wrapping up his second spring football practice. The teams will be divided by the Tiger coaching staff.
In addition, a post-game concert will begin shortly after completion of the game in Hale Stadium, featuring The Forty Plus Band, featuring "old-school R&B."
Along with the game, the Aristocrat of Bands and the Tiger cheerleaders will be present to add to the festivities. Ticket information for TSU's 2006 season will be available at the stadium. There is no admission charge to the Blue-White game.
Last spring, the Blue defeated the White 21-7. The game was played under sunny skies, with a crowd of more than 3,500 gathered in "the Hole" for the contest. The fans saw all the scoring come in the first half, including 21 of the 28 points scored within a span of 1:07 late in the first period.
